However, lately the limits of platinum cards and gold cards have come close enough to judge the difference insignificant. Thus, it seems to be no reason to pay the higher charges of gold cards if that is the only difference between them. Moreover, as both limits are increasing and reaching considerable amounts, platinum credit cards and their no limit feature begins to be less appealing. Income implications Since there were income requirements to qualify for these credit cards, being a cardholder of a silver credit card meant you had certain income, being a gold credit card holder meant your income was higher and so on. This could be an easy way for others to know how much you made without you talking about it. Store Card accounts could be opened without credit checks, etc. However, the qualification requirements differences have also been reduced and even platinum credit cards which where a type of credit card that could be obtained by invitation only are now offered to anyone who can qualify for it and qualifying is not that harder than qualifying for a gold credit card. Membership Fees The only substantial difference between these credit cards seem to be the membership fees, renewal fees, issuing fees, etc. Thus, as stated above, it seems as you are paying higher amounts just to make it clear that you can pay higher amounts. The benefits of having a higher grade credit card seemed to have banished and thus it might be advisable to think twice before accepting an offer from a bank that includes this kind of cards. Here are ten mistakes you should not make. 1. Being late you are going to be anxious and nervous and you are visiting a place you probably dont know where it is? How about planning out your journey beforehand and giving yourself an extra hour. Better to find the building that you are being interviewed in and then spend an hour relaxing and preparing for your interview, than making a mad dash and arriving flustered and late. 2. Not knowing the basics you should know all you can find out about the company you hope to work for. You will be asked about why you want to join the company and you should have a sensible answer ready. Your new company will like to feel chosen by you and they will want to employ a prepared and organized person. 3. Being unprepared bring copies of your resume/CV with you, even if an agency obtained the interview for you. Know the job specification off by heart. Prepare a list of questions that you want to ask. Potential employers like candidates that show a keen interest in the job. 4. Trying to Wing It - practice get a list of questions that you could be asked, prepare your answers and practice, practice, practice until you are natural at it. Maintain eye contact, greet the interviewer with a smile and a firm handshake and show common courtesy. Don't be afraid to display your passion for the job and industry. Answer questions as fully as you can and be confident. 8. Not listening - Focus on the question that is being asked and don't try to anticipate the next one. It's acceptable to pause and collect your thoughts before answering a question. If you dont understand the question, then ask for clarification by saying my understanding is. Pay special attention to technical or work related questions that are related to the job specification. The interviewer may have provided information you will need to answer the question earlier in the conversation. Employers will be looking for your ability to assimilate new information, retain it, and, most importantly, recognize that information as useful to you later in the interview. 9. Not marketing yourself correctly - define yourself and map your skills to those that the job spec/advert are requiring. Know your major strengths and accomplishments as they relate to the job you are applying for. Use your answers and questions you ask to make you stand our and be memorable to your interviewer. If you have an unusual hobby, job experience or skill, then bring this up naturally. This is not the time to name drop though. Be careful that you do not make the interviewer feel inadequate or uncomfortable. 10. Being impolite remember your interviewer maybe your future boss! Dont sit down until asked, ask to take of your jacket if hot, say thank you to offers of refreshment etc. Express your interest towards the job you are interested in and thank them for their time. By John R. Haughton SEED GERMINATION IN THE HYDROPONICS GARDEN. Many advantages are to be gained over conventional, soil based, seed germination, by using hydroponics. The growing mediums are clean and in a lot of cases sterile, which reduces the instances of disease and infection, as well as insect attack. Soil may contain all kinds of harmful bacteria, fungal spores and insects that might harm vulnerable young plants. Root rot should also be easily avoided, using a high quality growing medium. Because the hydroponics gardener has complete control over the plants environment, it is possible to ensure that each and every aspect of the plants growth is catered for to its optimum effect. This, of course, rules out the inconsistencies in the weather and avoids problems such as late frosts and storms etc. The subsequent advantage to the plants is an ideal climate in which to grow strong and healthy. This leads, eventually, to greater and better quality yields. A lot of seeds contain their own nutrients and require only water and Oxygen in order to sprout. It is important to realize that using a nutrient solution can and often will either retard or block the seeds ability to germinate. Once it has sprouted and has reached a point where it has viable leaves, then it can be fed using a weak nutrient solution. One species of plant that has very little nutrient within the seed is the Orchid, so, as you can see, it is important to research your plants prior to germination in order to minimize any stress to the plant. The choice of growing medium is important when dealing with seedlings and young clones. It must provide the young plant with water and Oxygen in adequate quantities, while not allowing it to become waterlogged. Drainage is very important at this time and the porous growing mediums have excellent properties in this area. Perlite, Vermiculite and Rockwool all offer great drainage properties together with the major advantage, in the case of Rockwool, of coming in nice little cubes with holes in for your seeds. The beauty of these cubes is that they can be transplanted straight into larger Rockwool cubes or other mediums as the seedling grows, thus cutting down on the plants stress and on the transplanters time. It is better to plant the germinated seeds in a medium with a built in weak nutrient and to add water only. When the seedlings are established you can then start them in a weaker version of your normal nutrient and gradually increase the strength until you are running at normal strength nutrient. This system can be ongoing, with germinating seeds being brought on at regular intervals to replace plants that have reached their fruiting stage and been cropped. Copyright (C) 2006.
